Infertility Medicine & Treatment in Ayurveda for a Hopeful Journey to Parenthood
Medically reviewed by Dr. Ankur Kotadiya, B.A.M.S., M.D. (Ayu)
Struggling to conceive can be emotionally exhausting, and you don’t have to go through it alone. In Ayurveda, infertility is called Vandhyatva, and treatment focuses on finding why your body isn’t ready for conception and correcting it from the root.
At Shattayu Ayurveda, Gujarat’s first NABH-accredited Panchakarma centre, we offer personalized infertility medicine in Ayurveda for both women and men. Your plan combines a detailed consultation, Panchakarma detox, Ayurvedic medicines, diet and lifestyle guidance. If you are looking for an Ayurvedic doctor for infertility in Ahmedabad, our team will guide you at every step.
What Is Infertility in Ayurveda?
- Ritu (right time): a regular, healthy menstrual cycle and well-timed ovulation
- Kshetra (the reproductive system): a healthy uterus, tubes and ovaries in women, and healthy reproductive organs in men
- Ambu (nourishment): proper nutrition, digestion and hormonal balance that nourish the tissues
- Beeja (egg and sperm): the quality of the egg and sperm
Common causes in women
- PCOD / PCOS and irregular periods
- Hormonal imbalance, including thyroid issues
- Fibroids or endometriosis
- Blocked or damaged fallopian tubes
- Poor ovulation or egg quality
- Chronic stress, poor sleep and weak digestion
- Excess weight or being underweight
Common causes in men
- Low sperm count
- Poor sperm motility or shape
- Stress, anxiety and long working hours
- Smoking, alcohol and an unhealthy diet
- Excess body heat and sedentary habits

Important: Many couples have more than one contributing factor. We recommend that both partners get evaluated, and we’ll advise whether you need any modern investigations alongside Ayurvedic care.
Our Ayurvedic Fertility Treatment Approach
At Shattayu Ayurveda, fertility treatment in Ayurveda follows four clear steps, so you always know what comes next.
Step 1. Detailed consultation and diagnosis
We study your medical history, reports, menstrual or sexual health history, digestion, sleep and stress levels. We assess your Prakriti (body constitution) and Nadi (pulse) to understand which doshas are out of balance.
Step 2. Detox with Panchakarma
Where suitable, we cleanse the body of accumulated toxins and prepare it for conception. This step is customized and not required for everyone.
Step 3. Personalised medicines
Herbal medicines are chosen for your condition, such as PCOD, irregular cycles or low sperm count, and adjusted as you progress.
Step 4. Diet and lifestyle guidance
You receive a practical plan covering food, daily routine, yoga and stress management that you can follow at home.
Panchakarma for Fertility
Panchakarma is the heart of Ayurvedic detox and is often used as a preparation before conception. Your Ayurvedic doctor will decide which therapies suit you.
Virechan
(medicated purgation)
Helps clear excess Pitta and toxins and is often used in hormonal and skin-related imbalances.
Vaman
(medicated emesis)
Helps remove excess Kapha, which can be associated with weight gain and PCOD.
Basti
(medicated enema)
The main therapy for balancing Vata, which governs the reproductive system.
Uttar Basti
A specialized procedure in which medicated oil or ghee is administered through the reproductive passage to nourish and cleanse the uterus.
Ayurvedic Medicines for Infertility
Herbs and classical formulations have long been used to support reproductive health. Depending on your needs, your doctor may recommend herbs and preparations such as:
- Shatavari for women’s reproductive health and hormonal balance
- Ashwagandha for stress, vitality and male reproductive health
- Ghee-based and herbal formulations for nourishing tissues
- Medicines for regulating periods and supporting ovulation
- Formulations to support sperm count and motility
Please note: There is no single “best infertility medicine in Ayurveda.” The right medicine depends on the cause, your constitution and your reports. Please don’t take herbal fertility products without consulting a qualified Ayurvedic doctor.
Diet and Lifestyle for Conception
Small daily habits make a real difference to fertility.
Foods that help
- Freshly cooked, warm, home-style meals
- Desi cow ghee in moderate amounts, milk, soaked almonds and seasonal fruits
- Sesame seeds, dates, leafy greens, moong dal and whole grains
- Plenty of water and herbal teas as advised by your doctor
Foods to limit
- Junk food, packaged snacks, fried and very spicy food
- Cold drinks, excess caffeine and sugar
- Alcohol and smoking (best avoided completely)
- Irregular meals and late-night eating
Lifestyle tips
- Sleep on time and get 7–8 hours of rest
- Do gentle yoga and breathing practices (such as pranayama) as guided by your doctor
- Manage stress through meditation, walks and time with loved ones
- Keep a healthy weight and stay active daily
- Track your cycle so you know your fertile window

Patients Testimonials

I am always recommend shattayu ayurveda clinic.😊
Thank you so much, Dr. Ankur Madam and the Shattayu team! 🙏

After some days, you started sending me messages every morning asking for a 5-star review. One review request is understandable, but repeatedly messaging a customer every day is annoying and feels like spam.
Please understand that a 5-star review should be earned, not repeatedly demanded. I had a good experience with the therapy, but this repeated messaging has changed my overall impression.
Because of the repeated messages, I am giving you 1 star now. If you had not continuously messaged me for a review, I would have given 5 stars for the therapy itself.

I recently underwent Shirodhara therapy at Shattayu Ayurveda and had an excellent experience. The treatment was conducted with great care and professionalism in a peaceful and hygienic environment.
The therapy helped me feel deeply relaxed, refreshed, and mentally calm. The doctors and therapists were knowledgeable, attentive, and ensured my comfort throughout the session. Their personalized approach and genuine concern for patient well-being made the experience even more special.
I would highly recommend Shattayu Ayurveda to anyone looking for authentic Ayurvedic therapies and holistic healing. Thank you to the entire team for the wonderful care and treatment.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Truly a rejuvenating experience!

Their therapist, Jagruti, is a healer in the truest sense of the word. I am deeply grateful to the entire team for their professionalism, kindness, and unwavering support.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Ahmedabad, even if you’re here only for a couple of days. It’s definitely worth the time!

The team of doctors—Dr. Ami, Dr. Rinku, and Dr. Ankur—were exceptional in their approach. Each of them took the time to understand my health concerns and tailored the treatments accordingly. Their deep knowledge and compassionate guidance played a major role in my positive experience.
I underwent Virechana, which marked the start of my detox process. Though preparation took nearly two weeks, the results were worth it. I also had sessions of Nasyam, which significantly improved my breathing and helped with a persistent dry cough, and Shirodhara, which was incredibly calming and improved the quality of my sleep.
The Ayurvedic massages were deeply relaxing, and I appreciated how flexible and accommodating the staff were throughout my program. While I didn’t lose as much weight as expected, I gained something far more valuable: a lighter, more energetic feeling, better food habits, and a clear shift toward a calmer and more productive lifestyle.
This experience has shown me how powerful natural healing can be. I now understand the importance of detoxifying the body and mind—and I’ve recommended this treatment to many friends and colleagues. Everyone should consider Panchkarma at least once—it’s an investment in a healthier, more balanced life.
I only wish I had more time to explore the full range of treatments available, but even in two weeks, the impact was profound. I look forward to returning and continuing this wellness journey.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Ayurveda cure infertility?
Ayurveda can help address many underlying causes of infertility, such as hormonal imbalance, irregular cycles, PCOD, stress and poor lifestyle habits. Results vary from person to person, and we don’t offer guarantees. After assessment, we’ll tell you honestly what to expect in your case.
How long does Ayurvedic fertility treatment take?
It depends on the cause, your age and your overall health. Most plans run for several months, since the body needs time to rebalance. Your Ayurvedic doctor will give you a timeline after your first consultation.
Is Ayurvedic treatment safe with IUI or IVF?
Some couples combine Ayurvedic care with modern treatment. Always tell both your Ayurvedic doctor and your fertility specialist about every medicine and therapy you are taking, so your care can be coordinated safely.
Which Ayurvedic medicine is best for female infertility?
No single medicine suits everyone. Herbs like Shatavari are commonly used, but the right choice depends on whether the cause is PCOD, irregular periods, thyroid issues or something else. Please consult an Ayurvedic doctor before starting any infertility medicine in Ayurveda.
Can Ayurveda help with PCOD-related infertility?
Yes, Ayurveda can support PCOD management through medicines, Panchakarma, diet and lifestyle changes that aim to regulate periods and support ovulation.
Does Ayurveda treat male infertility?
Yes. Ayurvedic care for men focuses on factors such as low sperm count, poor motility, stress and lifestyle habits, using medicines, detox and lifestyle changes.
What is Uttar Basti?
Uttar Basti is an Ayurvedic procedure in which medicated oil or ghee is introduced through the reproductive passage to cleanse and nourish the uterus. It is done only by trained doctors, after a proper assessment.
What is the cost of Ayurvedic infertility treatment in Ahmedabad?
The cost depends on your diagnosis, the therapies needed and the length of treatment. We recommend booking a consultation so the doctor can suggest a plan and explain the expected cost clearly.
When should we consult a doctor about infertility?
Consider seeking help if you haven’t conceived after a year of trying (or six months if the woman is over 35), or sooner if you have irregular periods, known reproductive conditions or other concerns.
Do both partners need treatment?
Not always, but it’s strongly recommended that both partners be evaluated, as infertility can involve either or both.
Does Panchakarma really help?
Yes, Panchakarma is highly effective in removing toxins, improving organ function, and promoting long-term health when done correctly under expert guidance.
Is Panchakarma good for gut health?
Yes, Panchakarma improves gut health by cleansing the digestive system, enhancing metabolism, and restoring digestive fire (Agni).
What are the minimum days for Panchakarma?
The minimum duration for Panchakarma is typically 7 days, but optimal results are achieved in 14 to 21 days depending on the condition.
Is Panchakarma painful?
Panchakarma is generally not painful. Some procedures may feel slightly uncomfortable, but they are safe and well-managed under expert supervision.
